Go Cincinnati

Go Cincinnati is a one-day volunteer effort to clean and help as much of the city as possible. It was a ton of fun. I volunteered with some people from my FREE journey group and we got placed with my mom and people from her small group. I believe it was a coincidence that we ended up working together, but I never found out for sure! Anyway, we cleaned up the yard and painted the fence of Youth Incorporated, a learning center for kids and teens who have been in jail and aren’t ready to go home yet. So, kind of like a daytime halfway house. It was fun to help out and the job was pretty easy! Apparently Go Cincinnati is one of the biggest volunteer days in the city… 7,000 people, 40 churches and 400 jobs. They had to turn volunteers away this year, so I can’t wait to see what we can get done next year! After everyone was done volunteering there was a big party in Over the Rhine at Washington Park. Cincinnati's top chefs catered the event (for free) and fed thousands of people. There was a DJ and lots of dancing! It was really fun. There is video a post down.

Here are some pictures from the job site:
