Winter Wonderland

A wrote a blog a few months ago about my new favorite park. The one where there is a dog park along with scenic trails in the woods that lead to the Little Miami River. I really love this park, and it's only about 10 minutes from my apartment. I haven't gone to the park since November, mostly because it gets dark so early, so my only chance to go is on the weekends, and it's been awful weather for weeks now. This weekend it was sunny. Gorgeous and sunny. It wasn't warm, I don't think it got above 30 degrees, but the sun was shining and I didn't care how cold it was. I was determined to get some outside time.

On Saturday, Jono and I took Gracey and Bella to the park. Before we even made it to the parking lot, I realized that the park definitely looked different than the last time I was there. The road into the park was closed and I looked over to the dog park and realized it was completely under water and frozen. The park is apparently just like one big flood plain.

It looked SO awesome.

No one was at the dog park part because the fence was only about a foot above the ice...so that could be dangerous to have dogs on top of feet of ice/water. But on the soccer fields were tons of people who let their dogs run around off leash. I couldn't wait to go down there. It was amazing. There was a sheet of ice covering the grass and dogs were "skating" around everywhere! People were actually ice skating too. There were some trees along the edge of the field that had rings of ice around them half way up from where the water/ice had peaked and started to subside. It was so amazing. It was such a great day. I want to go back before it all melts! Here a few pictures. I took some video too...I'll upload that a little later. So pretty.
