I hosted my Indy 500 video on YouTube, like I do with most of my videos. I like to put them out on the internet in a few places for a few reasons. One, I want people to actually watch them and two, in case my computer crashes or Bella steps on it and I lose my hard drive, I like to have my files backed up floating around cyberspace.
Alright, so just to give you a little insight to the number of people that attend the Indy 500, I found some statistics on CBSSports.com
"Estimated at about 400,000. Speedway never discloses attendance but admits to more than 250,000 reserved seats in permanent stands and room for 100,000 or more in the infield."
That's a lot of people. There are less than 50 cities in the US that have that many people.
Ok...now for some statistics about YouTube. If you search for "Indy 500" over 5,000 videos show up. "Indy 500 2009" narrows it down to less than 700...still, a lot of videos.
Yesterday I get an email notification from YouTube saying I have a comment on my video. I read it and it's from a guy who not only found my video, but found himself IN it. He and his brother were sitting RIGHT behind me and Anne and you can see him at 4 minutes and 45 seconds into the video.
I thought it was a pretty crazy story and obviously, the chances of that happening are extremely rare! Even if he had seen me taking video and searched for it, the chances of him actually finding it are rare...it's a small world afterall?
